Red Dão wine has a ruby colour, and is rounded, fortified, with a delicate aroma and velvety flavour. The most commonly used grape stocks are: Touriga Nacional, Alfrocheiro Preto, Tinta Roriz e Jaen. During aging, red Dão gains a velvety flavour, keeping its fruitness, and developing from the ruby colour of a younger wine into a chestnut red.


The region aldo produces an excellent white wine based on the Encruzado, Cercial, Malvasia Fina and Bical grape stocks. It is a light, fruity, aromatic wine, citrous yellow in colour.
