In the Dão, the wine is the result of man’s love of the earth.
Dão is the name of the river and of the region, an expanse of green, sunkissed, softly undulating slopes, where, like past loves, the wine started growing a long time ago. Dom Henrique the Navigator, for example, took it in caravels to Ceuta in 1415 and they drank it to celebrate the victory.
In the Dão, the wine flows through the earth’s veins and the earth is in the people’s hearts. Its fine quality is the result of the passionate dedication of its people, from the stone wine press to the computer. Without this profound relationship there would be no wine. And it is so strong that it unites the nobleman and the simple peasant in the same language and the same wisdom.
